I take it seriously that Phoebe has a beautiful life. We are our dogs' whole world, and I've never been able to treat that casually.
If you can hold that standard in New York, you can hold it anywhere. This is the hardest city there is. The schedules that change at 4pm, the buildings, the doormen, the walk-ups, the dog alone since a 7am meeting ran long. And yet here is where the bar had fallen the lowest.
I kept running into the same thing. Photo updates of dogs that weren't even mine. Phoebe spending half a "walk" tied to a sidewalk while the walker stood there on the phone. No-shows. Strangers in my apartment. A walker we loved moving away, and us back at square one.
None of it was care, and none of it was consistent. The whole category had quietly stopped trying, and everyone accepted it.
I didn't. So Patrick and I built Woofer to be the standard this category should have had all along, and we built it here first, where it's hardest.
